i will be in ohio on SATURDAY...

...that means I will probably be seeing most of you who read this (if anyone even reads it?). Then you can have the real life update of what I've been up too, since I've been rubbish at writing about it.

SEE YA'LL SOON.

(and enjoy the snow that you probably have, because there is none here)

part one: complete!

YES! Part 1 (of 3) in foundation is complete!

Assessment was this morning, and I must say that the outcome was quite shocking. The head of the fine art department reviewed everything I've done thus far and gave me really high marks. It is certainly the truth that all those sleepless nights and anxiety are worth it. THIS is why I came to art school. I realize more and more everyday that I am a) extraordinarily lucky to have this opportunity and b) that I really and my happiest self when I'm making art.

That said, I will be continuing on foundation with a specialization in sculpture. Yes, I will spend the rest of the year in sculpture--not fashion, not any type of design...sculpture! Almost immediately when the school year started I realized that what interests me about fashion is not actually the design part of it, it's actually the making. That said, I've chosen to pursue sculpture because what I really want to do is learn how every material possible works, how it can be manipulated, how it can be used to create anything. In fashion, you're limited to working on the body and working primarily in fabric--and I just want to work in every medium! We'll see where this goes--I just think that the skills I'd acquire in sculpture can and will apply to any form of art that I'd want to do.

So, for now, there's no class for the rest of the week which means thanksgiving party, 4 nights of live music, christmas festivals, ice skating (in the lawn of a palace!), and hat making.

Oh, it's going to be a good week!

(the photo above is of the building where I go to school :))

*u* (that's a smiley face)

So life isn't so bad after all. I just arrived back from Paris yesterday...what a lovely trip it was! Macaroons, perfect weather, bicycle rides along the river, amazing food, endless art galleries--it couldn't have been any better.

Back to reality.

I've got one more week until my end of term assessment which means non-stop art from now until the 25th. A few American friends and I are hosting a little Thanksgiving party, which happens to fall perfectly right AFTER assessment--what a nice way to end a term. On December 12th I'll be back home in Ohio--I'm sooo looking forward to seeing our decorated house on 5th street and my family and the cats!

Oh how I love Paris. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll live there one day.

big apologies...

...because it's taken me so long to write here!

Oh has it been crazy lately! I'm on a different four week unit for school right now--two weeks in graphic art and two weeks in fine art. My time in graphics just came to an end, but in those two weeks I had to complete 5 whole projects! Starting tonight I'm going to be posting my art at www.mynameiscaroline.tumblr.com --so bookmark that one if you're interested! I'm tired of having all of my art photos scattered and having to explain to my mom what I'm doing, so there you go!

Things should be much easier from now until Christmas, I've got a feeling--although I have to start thinking about applying for my BA course for next year (very very very terrifying thought).

Sadly because I've been working working working lately, I haven't had the time for much fun. For halloween, I went to a Kitsune warehouse party (french fashion brand/record label)--AMAZING. And this week I didn't get to do much of anything at all--it's so crazy to think that my first term is almost over and that I'll be back in Ohio for Christmas. In the meantime, my friend Jackie (who is Korean-American) and I are hosting a Thanksgiving party and there are a few gigs and parties on the agenda. It should be a really productive and fun month ahead.

No crazy news for today--I'll be updating all of my blogs by this evening hopefully and Jackie and I are going on a window shopping spree at DOVER STREET MARKET--the most unbelieveable experimental department store in the whole world. Oh how I wish I could buy everything! And since it's sunny we're going to my favorite place, Primrose Hill and perhaps someplace nice for dinner. Oh it will be a lovely day!

Next week I start my fine art unit--my very very favorite! We're doing a 2D/3D project of our choice and a 4D video project also, both inspired by a film, the 5 Obstructions. Updates to come!

another week, a million more adventures...

Oh what a lovely week it was. I saw GIRLS live on Tuesday....what an amazing show! There is almost nothing that I love more than a good live band. Thursday brought my very first assessment, and it went much better than I could have dreamed of! Positive reinforcement is always such a nice motivator. Since I didn't have proper class this week it's been so great to get out, go to lots of exhibitions and enjoy London.

The other day I saw a Robert Mapplethorpe show...which was really great. I'd never actually seen any of his work in person before. Yesterday Rebbie and I went to see the Fantastic Mr. Fox, a new film by Wes Anderson at a swanky Mayfair cinema. It's so cool--it was all done in manuel, old-fashioned stop motion animation. It took three years to complete and let me tell you, the result is phenomenal. But the best of all was today! I went to an exhibition called The Museum of Everything, which was so so so so cool, but the best part was that it was in Primrose Hill--a part of London that I hadn't yet discovered. Basically, I am dying to move there. It's streets of cafes, boutiques and lovely lovely building. And it's right next to Primrose Hill/Regent's Park. It's exactly what I always pictured London to be.

Tomorrow I start a 4 week unit in graphics...it should be quite fun. I've stocked up on colored inks and pens and am ready to go! I've got two more gigs to go to this week too! Passion Pit on Tuesday, Phoenix (Sophia Coppola's husband's band!) on Wednesday. Looks like it's going to be another amazing week.

AND I received a card in the mail from Nana and Papa (I'm sure you're reading this)--so I will be responding soon!

That's all for now :)

i've had an art filled week!

So, in the past week i've been to seven individual exhibitions and have been to the Frieze Art Fair. Oh, how nice it is to live in a city where that's possible.

Fortunately, there's no class today because we've all got scheduled progress tutorials. Mine's on Thursday and I've very prepared, which means no scrambling to finish work before then. That said, I'm looking forward to a week of fun, art and maybe a bit of relaxation.

Tonight I've got tickets to a gig, a band called Girls. They're from San Francisco and are playing right around the corner from where I live. Tomorrow there's a private viewing party at the Saatchi Gallery. And then, as if that's not enough, another two gigs on Thursday and Friday night. It's such a crazy week! I'm learning more and more that the neighborhood that my hall is in is basically the youngest, hippest, coolest part of london.

The longer I've been here, the more I love it. I think I've finally made it through all of the hurdles of moving to a new country and can now actually really enjoy it. My bicycle is basically the best investment I ever made--I rarely have to use any other form of transportation and London has tons of public racks and bike lanes in the roads, it really is the most convenient form of transportation. The bicycle I have is about as English as it gets, it's a Pashley princess with a steel frame and a wicker basket. It's so lovely!

For anyone who hasn't already heard, after a nasty domain name takeover, my art/culture blog is no longer accordingtocaroline.com, but rather thedreamingweaver.com. It was time for a change anyway...

perfect weekend? maybe.

Ah, it's Sunday.

The past few days have been filled with an explosion of cool things. On friday my lovely English friend Rebbie and I were cycling to the Tate Modern for an art exhibition when we spotted the entire royal family exiting St. Paul's Cathedral! Yes, all of them, the queen and the princes included.

I've been working working working and let me tell you, I love it. Today I've been to all four corners of London visiting art galleries, and the Serpentine Gallery which is right in the middle of Kensington Gardens...it was so beautiful. There are a couple of openings this weekend that I hope to go to also.

After a dispute over my domain name, the web address for my other blog has changed. It is no longer accordingtocaroline.com, but rather thedreamingweaver.com. It won't be active again for a couple of more days, but I suppose it's all for the better, it was time for a new web identity anyway.

This week I've got another project to finish then next week is my first assessment--after that, I must chose one of two pathways to spend November studying. This program is so on point and organized, it's amazing. Lots of the others are having trouble keeping up, but I've been just fine. I'm learning that one of the best skills to have is decisiveness. All of this is just about making a series of decisions and executing them.

Well then, we'll see what this week brings. For now I ought to get some sleep and recover from the craziness that has been the past few days.

who said it rained in london?

Hello again. It's Sunday and the sun is shining and the sky is blue in London. I've been here for about two and a half weeks now and finally I am starting to feel totally comfortable in this place. This week I was even stopped a few times for directions--now that must be a sign that I look like a local!

In the past week I've begun my classes, this week in 3-D design on an urban landscapes project. They've got us doing a little bit of everything and it's quite interesting. I'm quickly becoming obsessed with London art galleries--they're so different from the ones in the US, especially New York. Here, instead of being clustered all in Chelsea, they're spread all over the city and in really cool places. A gallery here isn't just a white room with high ceilings and maybe a couple of rooms in the back, it's an entire building dedicated to a specific vision. Today I'm going to the Saatchi Gallery for the second time this week. It's more like a museum and it houses some of the most amazing contemporary art I've seen in a while.

On Tuesday is a concert that I've been waiting for for quite some time. Hockey (the next big thing--I swear!) is playing at Scala, and it's a sold out show. Also this week, freshers events start. The whole freshers thing is starting to get on my nerves a bit--it's more just a week for club promoters to manipulate vulnerable student and force them to pay outrageous event charges. I've got tickets to the two events sponsored by the student union, but the rest I'm not so interested in.

cultural differences of the day: what we call tank tops are called vests here (the cause of many petty arguments between my english friend and I). band-aids are called plasters. anything make with flour that is crunchy is called a biscuit. So maybe they speak English here, but it's still an entirely different language!

cheers!

a missed flight a three lost suitcases later...

..I'm in London and settled in!

This place is amazing. I'm pretty sure that I never want to leave. Sure, it's a different country, but I never payed attention to really how many differences there are. Never in a million years did I think I'd end up here or that I'd like it so much.

I got here last Wednesday and since then my schedule has been full of appointments, nights out and long walks to scope out the neighborhood. This weekend we went to the Thames Festival along the river near the London bridge and St. Paul's Cathedral. Yesterday was move in day for the rest of the students so it was quite hectic but in the afternoon my lovely new friend Gal and I went to the Brick Lane Music festival and had such a wonderful time. Enrollment is tomorrow and classes are nearing but for now I'm still just thrilled to be here and be able to explore.

My room is small. Cozy but small. So far I've got two flatmates and a few more coming soon. We've got quite a large kitchen and the facilities here are really new. I'm in the Hoxton/Shoreditch area, which I've heard compared to the East Village/ Lower East Side in New York City.

There are so many great people here, it's so easy to make friends. The lifestyle here is so relaxed and interesting. I've got a feeling it's going to be a good year.

today is sunday.

and i leave for london on monday.

oh, it's crazy.

lately i just can't believe what i'm gotten myself into. if someone would have told me four years ago that this is what my life would be now, i wouldn't have believed them. i feel like the past year or two has been full of extremes for me, and this is just the latest.

i've got a really good feeling about this move, this might just be it.

Sunday, May 3, 2009

oh dear.

I have neglected to post in quite some time. It's been so crazy with all the perfect weather, headband making and interning. The past couple of weekend have been divine (except it's raining now) which means brunch outside and afternoons at the park. Now THAT'S the perfect day.

Things at Isaac are getting crazy as the Resort 2010 collection presentation is near and consequently there is a shortage of interns right now. It's increasingly exciting to be in such an environment as Isaac is becoming increasingly popular. His Bravo show, The Fashion Show (supposedly Bravo's Project Runway replacement) premieres on May 7th, he's doing amazing things for Liz Claiborne and he even rang the opening bell at the stock exchange on Tuesday. Oh, even better, he was the guest judge on last week's Iron Chef, which was challenge butter. It's so easy to admire a person like him. I'm so grateful for everything this internship has taught me.

My time here in the city is quickly coming to an end. I can't image what it'll be like to empty my apartment, leave my jobs and abandon everything I've known for the past four months. It's so depressing to think about, so I try not to. But I just wish I could come up with something interesting to do for a bit this summer to stay inspired and experience something else.

On Wednesday I say Peter, Bjorn & John in concert (known for their indie-pop anthem "Young Folks" a few years back---ridiculously good song). AND Animal Collective is coming up. May is basically just a good month for concerts, so I've got something to look forward to.

That's all I've got for today. I'll be home the weekend before graduation, NOT going to prom--only three weeks from now.

ahoy!

Well, hey there. We just got back from Boca Raton today. It was quite a nice little trip, we stayed at a brand new resort on the beach and did a glorious whole lot of nothing and it was exactly what I needed. Evan brought his friend Wes, Annie brought Chelsea and of course Kylie came along too...there were lots of us which made for much fun (Evan and Wes being the difficult ones). Just kidding. Seriously. Anyway, it was a super long weekend (thanks, mom!) and now I'm back in New York with a bizarre sunburn, my freckles out in full force and back at work again.

Today I had this strange explosion of creativity. After a day of hunting around, writing and thinking up ideas I can say that I have a couple of really exciting forthcoming projects. More details later. I FINALLY went to Topshop on Broadway and Broome...I've been avoiding it since it's opening because I've been intimidated by the mobs of Kate Moss wannabes and I'm sad to report that its was generally unimpressive. It really just looks like an expensive H&M, and granted I didn't try anything on or buy anything I'm not one to judge, but there was just nothing I was dying to have EXCEPT they do sell Office shoes (amazing London based brand) and a pair of silver sequin covered leggings. As I expected there were tons of model-esque pre-teens and a few grandmas sitting on the benches in the front of the store and I did spot Angela Simmons (Rev Run's daughter in case you don't watch Run's House) trying on a pair of grey patent platforms in the "shoe lounge".

There are some really great shows coming up soon...but I'm especially excited for Ratatat next week. I'm going to try to make it to the theatre to see the new documentary, Valentino: The Last Emperor this week too. I like being a fashion nerd.

Au revoir for now!

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

the days are sunny and the nights are cold.

My goodness, it has been a crazy couple of weeks. Last Thursday I went to a fancy little magazine party at PHI...it was filled with socialites and fashion people and the DJ was incredible. Too bad I had to help with things for most of the evening (oh how it is to be an intern), but still, I met a lot of interesting and apparently important people. I guess it was yet another glimpse into that work that I'll eventually, hopefully sooner than later be a part of.

At Isaac I've been busy working on developing embroideries for the Spring 2010 collection...it's fun. I love buying sequins and sitting around the studio sewing all day...it's the perfect little craft time.

Last weekend Aunt Gwen and Katie came for a little visit. I showed them some of my favorite places and we just had a lovely time. On Saturday night Katie and I saw Cut Copy/ Matt & Kim in concert. I've said this a million times...but it blew my mind. It was such a crazy and ridiculous show. And the fun continues...this week have a lot of catching up to do though, so therefore there's not much time for fun until Friday when Celia and I are devoting the entire day to ourselves. It's her first day interning at Isaac, so we're doing coffee and croissants before and something fun after. THEN my mother and Kylie are coming for a lightening fast visit on Saturday...just enough time for shopping and eating. And boy do I need some new spring clothes before spring break!

That's about all for now. It still is weird for me to disclose details of my personal life via the internet, but maybe I'm getting better at it.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

a banana cupcake with coconut icing

and THAT is my new favorite thing. For anyone who plans on coming to the city anytime soon, after much searching I have discovered the best cupcake in New York City, and they're at Butter Lane on E. 7th Street off of Ave. A. This adorable little shop just opened in November with three cake flavors and SEVENTEEN, yes, SEVENTEEN frosting choices you can mix and match to find your favorite. YUM. I may have gained about five pounds.

Saturday afternoon was perhaps the most perfect day ever, as I'm sure it was for many people. I've spent quite a lot of time in New York City BUT I've never been here during the springtime--and Saturday afternoon was just that. Cafes flood onto the sidewalks, parks are filled with happy people a frantic dogs, streets are blocked off for seasonal markets, window shoppers peruse the expensive streets of Soho. It's incredible. Celia and I went to OST, my new favorite cafe on 1st and 12th, sat outside and proceeded to a salon for much needed pedicures. Afterward, I made my way to West Chelsea to join all of the eager art gallery goers. I'm sort of a nerd, but that might just be my favorite thing to do in the city. I'm so excited for the weeks and months to come as they will be warmer and the city gets so much friendlier.

Oooh, another great spot for anyone visiting the city:

Antique Garage on Mercer and Grand in Soho--it's a restaurant in an old garage-like atmosphere with antiques covering the brick walls, a delicious Turkish menu and live music nearly ever night of the week. And unlike many New York restaurants, they expect you to take your good old time. The food is divine and did I mention that Sean Penn apparently goes there often? That's reason enough, isn't it.

I'm at work and should probably be doing something more important, so that's all I've got for now.

Thursday, March 5, 2009

it's official...

I have finally decided that I will be attending Central Saint Martin's College of the Arts in the fall! I'm sorry Aunt Melane, there's no Macy's day parade in London.

That's all. I promised an announcement when I decided to make up for not wanting to discuss it previously, so here it is.

Something else that's nice...in Europe it's unheard of to share a bedroom and a bathroom in a dorm, so I get my own!

Sunday, February 22, 2009

i survived fashion week.

Helllllo everyone! First of all, I apologize for my absence. Last week was perhaps the most ridiculous in recent memory and I can't even describe what it was like. First of all, there is nothing like the energy in New York City like that during fashion week. After working endless days until the latest hours at night as an unpaid intern,  I can say that they last of sleep and needle pricks on my fingers was absolutely worth it.

The Isaac Mizrahi show was at the New York Public Library on Thursday afternoon. I was assigned as a back stage helper with handbags to run, clothes to organize and talented people to observe. It's amazing to be in the presence of a person such as Isaac. It wasn't until I took this internship that I realized what an impact he has on so many people. It's truly unfathomable.

After an insane week of sacrificing my own social life, I was able to make up for it with the visit of my old friend Ellen (a.k.a Elke) who came from Pittsburgh. After much city exploring, concert go-ing (Noah and the Whale is AMAZING live), good food and time spent with my new friend Leslie, tonight is the first night that I have had to myself in quite some time.

I know that there is probably more that I should catch you up on, but I truly can't remember so I'll leave it at that.

Everyoneee have a marvelous week :)

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

this is kind of silly...

Reasons why the past three days were terrific:

Aunt Wendy and Heather visited me
The Steelers won the Super Bowl
It was 50 degrees and sunny in New York
I started ANOTHER internship at Isaac Mizrahi

That's all :) ...just thought ya'll might want to be filled it!

Thursday, January 29, 2009

endless excitement for a dreaming girl.

hello all! This have been sooo great lately! I'm finished with work for the week...and boy was it an interesting one. Today I taxied to Chelsea to make a drop-off an artist's gallery...a rather established and interesting artist with a very large studio and a very friendly dog. I thought that was cool...but THEN I was working at my desk when Calvin Klein walked by! Yes THE Calvin Klein. And of course I knew exactly what he looked like and my heart nearly dropped with the sight of a fashion legend a mere inches from my location. Whoa. It was quite a day.

Last night I went to the Bowery Ballroom to see Annuals in concert. A band called What Laura Says opened for them...they were surprisingly good. It was a really late night...thus explaining why it is almost 8 on a Thursday night and I am basically ready for bed.

I have a very important appointment tomorrow (more details later...maybe). AND Aunt Wendy and Heather are coming into town, so it'll be lots of fun with them...I have lots of plans for places to take them. Saturday will be great too...Loney, Dear show in Brooklyn. Sunday is the SuperBowl! It'll be a good time.

Oh my, city life is so fun!

Saturday, January 24, 2009

apt pics!

So, I have finally uploaded photos of my apartment (I did not, however, include ones of the spare room or of either of the two bathrooms) I love it here. It's so cozy and so totally safe...and there are only 6 units in the building so it's very small. I've actually decided to start looking for a roomate...it might be nice to have someone else around the house...I don't know. I am really just looking for someone I might be friends with/enjoy their company, so we'll see what I find...

This is the lovely hallway...that is the front door to the left and the spare bedroom to the right.
This is my room! You can't tell but there is actually quite a bit of space...a closet and a dresser behind the door.
For anyone who was/is worried about me cooking and eating real food...LOOK! I have been really good about grocery shopping and cooking for myself. Mom, you should be proud.
Little kitchen :)...really only big enough for one person or maybe two really small people.

This is the living room...there's a desk and shelving units on each side of the window which is certainly nice for all of my headband stuff/ useless objects. I just love the exposed brick.

That's all or now :)

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

this is one crazy place.

There's not much going on right now...but of course that is relative. This weekend I spent some time in Brooklyn, hung out with new friends and reunited with an old one. It was quite nice...and snowy!

It's very busy this week around Interview...and sometimes it's frustrating, but hey, that's the life of an intern. Things just keep on getting crazier in this ridiculous life of mine...I've got lots of plans with weekend. AND my lovely Pittsburgh friend Elke has planned a weekend here with me in February (the weekend of the Noah and the Whale concert!) So I am SO excited. My old friend Celia is back in town now... you can check out the headband inspired by her this week on wearfrolic.com.

SO, Animal Collective played the first show for their new album yesterday, a show that has been sold out for months. They also announced a May 13th show at Terminal 5 yesterday, which means that tickets will be on sale at noon on Friday, which happens to be my busiest day of the week (sooo many appointments!)...so hopefully I can snag one of them...that would be ridiculously exciting.

The other day I was out for a little walk/part time job hunt when I came across the COOLEST shoe store ever. This place is outfitted like a four year olds dream playhouse--oh so whimsical--and is filled with tons and tons of cool shoes by Irregular Choice and Poetic Licence (who happens to make the most comfortable, most fabulous shoes)...both London based brands that are sometimes hard to come by here in the states. As a shoe fanatic, this was the perfect end to a super fun weekend, especially since everything was 40% off! Hooray for shoes!

The Steelers are going to the super bowl. Yes, this is a very exciting thing, especially since us Weavers sure are Steelers fans. It's just kind of hard this year, especially since the last time the Steelers went to the championship we were there with our dad--the biggest Steelers fan I've ever known. For that very reason it was particularly hard to watch the game the other night because I couldn't stop thinking about him and about the things he had said and the way he was so emotional about that experience that we had as a family. Sometimes it's just so hard. I can pretend like it's not and try to let it go for a few minutes so I can live my life, but there are those moment when it's just too much. And it's all just now starting to become real--and I'm here in New York, at this sort of crossroads in my life when under any other circumstances everything in my life would be just about perfect. I still just can't believe it.

...but I'm still here. cool job. lovely apartment. great music ALL THE TIME. nice new shoes. fun friends. Seriously, what could be better?

goodbye for now!

Friday, January 16, 2009

we just want to have a good time.

Boy, has it been one crazy week. Work was fun/hectic/great. I had to help with the set-up and take-down of a photo shoot for MK Olsen. It was amazing to see just how much work goes into getting that one perfect shot of just one person for the cover of a magazine. Yesterday I got to listen to and write notes on some really great unreleased albums (including Animal Collective!), so that was cool. It has all just been so incredibly interesting. The work that I do is seemingly insignificant and perhaps a bit tedious and annoying, but for me it's a glimpse into a world that I'm never seen before.

NYLON requested some headbands/hair pieces for a story they're doing for the March issue on the surrealist art movement...who knows if they'll actually use them, it's a possibility.

SO, now it's Friday and I have four days off. The quest for a fun part-time job continues. I've got some headbands to make for Monday and plans with a handful of people. Tonight I'm going to a Raveonettes/Nickel Eye concert that should be terrific. I'm very excited.

It's funny, even though I have four days off it still seems like I'm really busy. Maybe that's only because I make myself busy.

That's all for now :)

Monday, January 12, 2009

first weekend = a success

hello there.

Today is Monday, which means day off, for now at least. I survived my first weekend here... and it was quite an eventful one. My good friend, Miss Isabel came to visit for the day on Saturday. It was quite a day, we had brunch at a fabulous little place right off Bowery and then shopped around SoHo for the day. She is also my headbander of the week right now, you can check her our on wearfrolic.com.

After four days of exploration, nights out, good music and endless walking, I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow. Life is good.

Anyway...I'm posting on accordingtocaroline.com today also.

Friday, January 9, 2009

the perfect day.

Today is Friday, and the perfect winter day in New York City. The sun is shining, it's cold enough for all of my favorite warm winter garb and I have the entire day to explore.

I've been here for about five days, and considering that I've worked until 6pm the past three days, this is really my first opportunity to scope out the land, live like a local and meet people outside of work and the subway. Oh how blissful it is.

My new favorite place, the B-Cup Cafe (my current location at this very moment) is perhaps less than fifty feet from my front door and the perfect place for cheap coffee, excellent music and good looking people. I'm starting to really love it here in my neighborhood...and this is only the beginning. Yes, I'm an annoying distance from the major subway lines, but I am in the epicenter of thriving, talented, artsy type people quite like myself. It's just so strange to me that this is it. I've worked for so long to achieve this and for the past four years it was merely a dream that seemed a bit out of reach.

This still feels like a vacation, however false that may be. Of course I miss my friends back in Ohio, but it's truly a very small world and they have not disappeared from my life in any respect at all. This weekend should be terrific. It's time to have some fun, meet people and enjoy the city from a fresh local perspective.

I just want everyone to know that I am doing tremendously although the events of the past month have been a roller coaster of change in my life, I am fine, at least for the time being, and for now, it seems that things can only get better.

the sun shines in new york city

So...it turns out that New York City is just as tremendous as I had expected it to be. Today is my second day at Interview Magazine, a place that I have quickly developed a fondness for.

This place is the epitome of cool, at least in my mind. The walls are obnoxiously colorful. The people are interesting, cultured and friendly. Although I am merely an intern, this job is important to me. It seems that the magazine world is not quite what I expected it to be, nor how it is portrayed on television. Truly, the creation of a magazine is like the ultimate group project.

The apartment is starting to look more like home. It is small, old and quaint and quite frankly, just about all an 18 year old intern could ask for. Tonight I'm heading out to buy a few things for the place. This week, for me, is really about getting adjusted and finding my own way. I need to get settled in, feel comfortable with my job and get used to the city before I can enjoy it the way I should...but that certainly won't take long.

...time to get back...I'm quite busy these days.
