and THAT is my new favorite thing. For anyone who plans on coming to the city anytime soon, after much searching I have discovered the best cupcake in New York City, and they're at Butter Lane on E. 7th Street off of Ave. A. This adorable little shop just opened in November with three cake flavors and SEVENTEEN, yes, SEVENTEEN frosting choices you can mix and match to find your favorite. YUM. I may have gained about five pounds.
Saturday afternoon was perhaps the most perfect day ever, as I'm sure it was for many people. I've spent quite a lot of time in New York City BUT I've never been here during the springtime--and Saturday afternoon was just that. Cafes flood onto the sidewalks, parks are filled with happy people a frantic dogs, streets are blocked off for seasonal markets, window shoppers peruse the expensive streets of Soho. It's incredible. Celia and I went to OST, my new favorite cafe on 1st and 12th, sat outside and proceeded to a salon for much needed pedicures. Afterward, I made my way to West Chelsea to join all of the eager art gallery goers. I'm sort of a nerd, but that might just be my favorite thing to do in the city. I'm so excited for the weeks and months to come as they will be warmer and the city gets so much friendlier.
Oooh, another great spot for anyone visiting the city:
Antique Garage on Mercer and Grand in Soho--it's a restaurant in an old garage-like atmosphere with antiques covering the brick walls, a delicious Turkish menu and live music nearly ever night of the week. And unlike many New York restaurants, they expect you to take your good old time. The food is divine and did I mention that Sean Penn apparently goes there often? That's reason enough, isn't it.
I'm at work and should probably be doing something more important, so that's all I've got for now.
